Hinnerup - a County in Denmark

Hinnerup is a thriving small county in Jutland, Denmark with a  population of around 10,000.
The countys website (http://www.hinnerup.dk) gives citizens and local businesses access to the countys information and services.
Maps can be a very useful tool in communicating this information, particularly to newcomers and new businesses not familiar with the local geography.

District Plans

Particularly useful features are district plans showing amongst other things the rules governing new building projects, industry, etc.
A simple map shows all the district plans with links to the actual documents in .pdf format.

Real Estate

Another area where maps are used is in the sale of building grounds, for business premises and for private accommodation.
Maintenance of theses maps has in the past been a very time consuming affair. When a ground was reserved or sold, the website graphics would be manually updated to reflect the grounds new status. At times there are many available lots and holding the website up-to-date became a fulltime job.

A small application was developed in hyperGIS™ to enable the sales office to change the status of a building ground directly in a simple map interface. The website is automatically updated so visitors can always see the latest information resulting in a better service at greatly reduced cost.

Intranet

hyperGIS™ is used extensively within the Town Hall itself and has proved itself a fast and effective alternative to desktop GIS applications for searching and displaying the countys geographic data.
